Lyndsey Hill took recently took over the Pottsville tennis program.

Hill, also the head softball coach at Pottsville, said she inherited a well-run program from former head coach Keri McAlister.

“Keri told me coming in that this was a really special group of kids, and she was not lying,” Hill said. “They are a tight-knit family, and they’ve welcomed me with open arms.”

Hill has five seniors — Trevor Fugate, Brenlee Barton, Jada Parker, Paige Ellington and Caleb Helms.

“The seniors are really the heartbeat of this team,” Hill said “They are super invested in helping everyone around them get better. The seniors are not just leaders at practice, they are leaders on the court as well. Underclassmen Caleb Wojtek and Cruz Coffman are also set to have a big year. They will both be playing boys singles.”

Hill said she’s received so much encouraging help from McAlister and other area coaches as she transitions into her role as head tennis coach.

“Coach McAlister has been extremely gracious and has answered all of my nonstop questions,” she said “Shayne Manning at Dardanelle has been a big help as well. Tennis, whether at Pottsville or elsewhere, really seems to be just one big family. Everyone has been super welcoming and helpful!””
