POTTSVILLE (By Travis Simpson for The Courier)— The Apaches suffered a 42-14 loss to the Booneville Bearcats on Friday at John Needham Stadium.
Booneville scored first with 5:40 in the first on a 9-yard rush to make it 7-0.
Next, they scored with 4:31 in the first on a 49-yard run to make it 14-0.
The Bearcats struck again to go up three scores with 8:17 left in the half.
Ben Jones scored for Pottsville to make it 21-7, but Booneville scored a 57-yard run to make it 28-7 at halftime.
The Bearcats recovered a fumble for a touchdown with 10:51 in the third to make it 35-7.
Konner Carpenter connected with Jones for a 33-yard touchdown to go up 35-14 in the third.
With 3:14 left in the third quarter, the Bearcats scored on a 48-yard touchdown pass to set the final score.
Drew Rust had 49 yards on 11 carries. Trey Cobb had 61 yards on five carries.
Carpenter was 9-of-18 for 150 yards and a touchdown.
Elijah Bradley had 54 yards on five receptions, while Jones had 94 yards on three receptions and a touchdown. Jones scored another rushing touchdown with one carry for two yards.
The Apaches travel to Prairie Grove on Friday.
